چکیده

Seasonal and zonal climatologies of Rayleigh–Taylor growth rates under geomagnetically quiet conditions during solar minimum moderate as a function local time altitude are calculated using open source data software. Instability of the Ionospheric Plasma: Modeling and Analysis

This paper is concerned with the theory and modeling of plasma instabilities in the ionosphere. We first consider the so-called ’striation model’ which consists of balance equations for the density and momenta of the plasma species, coupled with an elliptic equation for the potential. The linearized instability of this model is analyzed in the framework of Fourier theory, both for smooth and di...

Low-rank approximation in the numerical modeling of the Farley-Buneman instability in ionospheric plasma

We consider the numerical modeling of the Farley-Buneman instability development in the earth’s ionosphere plasma. The ion behavior is governed by the kinetic Landau equation in the four-dimensional phase space, and since the finite difference discretization on a tensor product grid is used, this equation becomes the most computationally challenging part of the scheme. To relax the complexity a...

Regional ionospheric modeling using wavelet network model

A major error component of Global Positioning System (GPS) is the ionospheric delay. Ionopspheric error can be reduced by a dual frequency receiver using a linear combination technique that can not be applied with a single frequecy receiver. However, an accurate ionospheric error modeling for single-frequency receiver is required. Due to the nonlinearity of the ionospheric error, a highly nonli...

A Model Hierarchy for Ionospheric Plasma Modeling∗

Received (Day Month Year) Revised (Day Month Year) Communicated by (xxxxxxxxxx) This paper deals with the modeling of the ionospheric plasma. Starting from the two-fluids Euler-Maxwell equations, we present two hierarchies of models. The MHD hierarchy deals with large plasma density situations while the dynamo hierarchy is adapted to lower density situations. Most of the models encompassed by t...

Instability statistics and mixing rates.

We claim that looking at probability distributions of finite time largest Lyapunov exponents, and more precisely studying their large deviation properties, yields an extremely powerful technique to get quantitative estimates of polynomial decay rates of time correlations and Poincaré recurrences in the-quite-delicate case of dynamical systems with weak chaotic properties.
